Description A refined and wearable piece of 1960s Omega — the Seamaster De Ville (ref. 166.020) from 1968 represents the final chapter of a watch that straddled two of Omega’s most celebrated lines. By 1967 the De Ville had become its own standalone collection, and this reference captures that transitional moment perfectly: the Seamaster backbone still present in the caseback’s iconic hippocampus engraving, the De Ville elegance fully realised in the dial and proportions. The warm champagne sunburst dial is quietly beautiful — applied gold baton markers catch the light with an understated richness, the slender gold hands sweep cleanly across the surface, and the “Seamaster De Ville” cursive signature at 6 o’clock adds a period-correct flourish that modern watches simply cannot replicate. The date window sits neatly at 3 o’clock. The 34mm case — gold cap on the front, stainless steel caseback — retains its warm tone and clean profile, with the smooth domed bezel characteristic of late 1960s Omega dress watches. At the heart of the watch, the automatic calibre 565 — 24 jewels, quickset date, 50-hour power reserve, 19,800 A/h — is widely regarded as one of the finest movements of its era, robust and easy to service, and still running strong over five decades later. A versatile, characterful vintage Omega at its most elegant. What we love: Warm champagne sunburst dial in excellent condition Calibre 565 — 24 jewels, quickset date, one of Omega’s best late-60s movements Classic 34mm proportions — wears beautifully on any wrist size What you should know: Watch comes without its original box and papers.
