Description Pair of Royal Doulton tubelined stoneware vases. Item 3992. This pair of tall Royal Doulton tubelined stoneware vases stand 355 mm high and have a dimater of 125 mm. They are decorated with a tubelined pattern of roses and leaves. Tubelining is a process where the pattern is outlined in liquid clay using the same technique as icing a cake. The subsequent pattern is then filled with coloured enamels leaving a coloured, textured decoration. Both vases are both signed with the modellers initials incised into the base- LB -but I am unable to find out who it was. The small impressed “r” is for the modellers assistant Letitia Rosevear. The vase on the left in the photo must have been in a slightly hotter part of the kiln causing some blisters in the light green enamel, and the ground colour to be slightly darker. There are no chips or cracks. C1910.
